Cookie Policy

What cookies we use, why, and how to control them.

Last updated: 31 July 2026 Consent Mode v2 (PDPA-compliant)
What cookies are How we use them Cookies we use Consent Mode Opt out Contact

1. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (browser storage) to remember information about your visit — such as your language preference, whether you're logged in, or whether you've dismissed a banner.

This policy covers cookies and equivalent browser storage mechanisms (localStorage, sessionStorage) used on codigenius.com and pages under it.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for two purposes only:

  • Analytics — to understand how visitors use our site (which pages, how long, from where) so we can improve content and layout. Aggregated and anonymised.
  • Consent state — to remember whether you've accepted or rejected our cookie banner, so we don't show it repeatedly.

We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or personalisation. We do not sell or share cookie data with third parties for marketing.

3. Cookies We Use

Full list of cookies set on codigenius.com:

3.1 Essential (always active — no consent required)

Cookie / Storage Purpose Duration
cg_cookie_consent (localStorage) Remembers your cookie banner choice (accepted or rejected) Persistent (until cleared)

3.2 Analytics (only after you accept the cookie banner)

Cookie / Storage Set by Purpose Duration
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics 4 Distinguishes unique visitors; measures page views, sessions, and events Up to 14 months
_clck, _clsk (Microsoft Clarity) Microsoft Clarity Session identifier for heatmaps and session recordings; does not collect personal identifiers by default Up to 1 year

Both Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity operate under our configured Consent Mode v2 — they run in restricted "denied" mode by default and only start recording after you click Accept on the cookie banner.

4. How Consent Works (Google Consent Mode v2)

When you first visit codigenius.com, we display a cookie banner asking whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you click Accept:

  • Google Analytics receives no personal or device identifiers
  • Microsoft Clarity does not record your session
  • Only aggregate, cookieless "ping" signals may be sent to Google (used for anonymised reach measurement only, no user-level tracking)

When you click Accept:

  • Full Google Analytics 4 tracking activates
  • Microsoft Clarity begins recording your session (default masking of sensitive fields)
  • Your consent choice is saved in cg_cookie_consent localStorage so we don't show the banner again

When you click Reject:

  • All analytics tools remain in denied mode
  • Your rejection is saved so we don't show the banner again

5. How to Opt Out or Change Your Mind

To withdraw consent after accepting:

  • Clear the cg_cookie_consent value from your browser's localStorage for codigenius.com (DevTools → Application → Local Storage, then delete). The banner will reappear on your next visit.
  • Alternatively, clear all site data for codigenius.com in your browser settings.

Browser-level cookie controls:

  • Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via Settings → Privacy. This affects all sites, not just ours.
  • Google Analytics offers a global opt-out browser extension: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

Blocking cookies may affect the functionality of some websites but does not affect your ability to use codigenius.com — our site works fully without cookies (only the banner-dismissal state is remembered).

6. Third-Party Cookie Providers

The third parties whose cookies we use (only after you accept):

  • Google (Google Analytics 4) — see the Google Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft (Clarity) — see the Microsoft Privacy Statement

We do not control third-party cookies directly — our role is limited to enabling their scripts on our pages and configuring them to respect your consent choice.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our tooling, laws, or industry practice. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
